Are You Suffering From Paperwork Overload?

Excessive paperwork steals time from instruction, and it’s frustrating!

The UFT is heading into talks next week with the Department of Education about how to reduce the paperwork burden on members. Send your name, grade level and school along with your story of duplicative and unnecessary paperwork to paperwork@uft.org. We’ll use your story to make recommendations for paperwork elimination, while making sure to protect your confidentiality.

I took a sick day and was given a huge form to fill out in order to get paid. Never had to do that at my old school.

    Can someone explain this?

    ?? Michael, that sounds wrong.

In my school the payroll secretary puts in the code for sick, jury, conference, whatever, and the day you get back you sign or initial next to the date and code.

Were there some exceptional circumstances? I’d ask the payroll secretary, and then your Chapter Leader.
