I Watched The School of Rock,

I knew Jack Black and EduWonk is no Jack Black.

On a serious note do check out some great value added education posts at the AFT’s NCLBlog.

This weeks Carnival of Education is hosted by The Education Wonks.

Michele at the AFT’s NCLBlog gets into the debate over the now infamous panel on the future of teacher unionism. EduWonk who appearently is desperately trying to play the part of Mickey Kaus in the education blogosphere misses what I think is the simple question in the debate, that the panel is on the future of teacher unionism. If one were to host a panel on the future of the Democratic centrism and invited someone from DailyKos, MYDD, and David Sirota while leaving out any of the leaders of the DLC, one would suspect that people around PPI (the policy wing of the DLC where Eduwonk sometimes hangs his coat) would view the panel, rightly, as a sham. All the back and forth boils down to that simple point.
If you don’t understand the Mickey Kaus reference, read this description from wikipedia, along with two snippets that I think describe him accurately. {ed – While I think the first line is an accurate description of Kaus’ schitck it’s probably too biased to remain in the Internet’s Encyclopedia.}

This type of pundit goes out of his way to stake out positions which run counter to conventional wisdom or, frequently, common sense, for the sole purpose of marvelling in his own cleverness.

During the 2004 U.S. presidential election, the blog displayed a strong and consistent distaste for John Kerry, despite the fact that Kaus endorsed Kerry and contributed to his campaign.

EPI has posted the audio of a debate between Lawrence Mishel and Jay Greene on high school graduation rates. Maisie had blogged about the back and forth before on EdWize.
