The 10% above our contract:

Does that mean at the teacher's current step?

Does that include the teacher's current differential?

Will the teacher continue to move along steps (and pick up longevity) as under our contract?

Pension:

Will membership in TRS continue without interruption or change in terms?

Security, rights:

Can a current NYC teacher get a job here, and then transfer back to a regular public school?

If a tenured teacher moves to this school, and things go badly, will she still have tenure when she returns to a regular public school?

Process:

Can ATRs apply? RTRs? (former RTRs, I guess). Can their applications be given priority?

Will experience be given positive weight in the selection process?

Is there a mechanism to ensure that hiring at lower salaries not be given weight in the hiring process?

Partnership
How is the UFT playing a role in this school?

Is there a "running the school role" separate and apart from "protecting the members" role, and are they played by distinct and separate groups of UFT members/employees?

What is the UFT's role in the hiring process?

Hmmm...I have a few questions about this.

"Come join the Green Dot New York Charter School and help lead the effort to transform public education to ensure that all children receive the education they need to fulfill their dreams!"

Is this to imply that teachers like me, who work under miserable conditions in overcrowded schools with inadequate facilities, perhaps because valuable resources go to charter schools, are not trying to ensure kids get what kids need to fulfill their dreams?

Wouldn't it be easier if we got the facilities to help them, rather than turning them over to charter schools? Shouldn't our union help us to get those facilities?

Also, Green Dot's website declares its teachers have neither tenure nor seniority rights. Do you think that's a good thing for working teachers? I understand that Edwize has declared their "just cause" provisions are superior to tenure, but it's quite clear Green Dot means to say something else altogether. In fact, Steve Barr declared on Eduwonk that teachers gladly dump tenure to work for him.

In any case, how many times, if ever, has Green Dot's "just cause" provision been tested? If it has, how many teacher positions has it saved? Thanks for your reply. Since you're running this ad on our dues-supported website, it behooves you to let us know what we're getting into.

Thanks in advance for the info.
