Mulgrew failed to make a very basic point: Without an objective system of layoffs, our contract is meaningless. Who would grieve a contract violation knowing it could result in a layoff?

WE ALRESDY HAVE AN OBJECTIVE SYSTEM OF LAYOFFS. THE MAYOR IS PLAYING POLITICS . HE WANT’S TO LAY OFF HIGHER PAID OLDER TEACHERS FOR LOWER PAID UNEXPERIENCED TEACHERS. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. IT’S ABOUT THE MONEY AND PRIVATIZATION OF SCHOOLS.
TEACHERS ARE NOT RESPECTED MY MAYOR BLOOMBERG. WE SHOULD FIGHT ANY POLICY THAT WILL LIMIT SENORITY WITH GUSTO. BLOOMBERG SIMPLY WANTS TO LAY OFF OLDER TEACHERS WHO HAVE FINALLY EARN A DECENT SALARY. WE MUST FIGHT THIS MOVE

The context of the mayor’s “speech” remains purely subjective. Principals would remove vocal teachers in a hot ssecond, just as they now use atr’s as scapegoats to rid fit the DOE’s criteria to rid schools of 5% of lower performing teachers per district superintendent “quota.” If you are not “in the principal’s loop” you will be targeted. The lying, cheating, and stealing will never stop. Ask the mayor how he enables scandals such as CityTime to continue.

The mayor wants to divide the Teachers. No tenure for the beginners and no seniority for the older ones. Guys, you must unite. Remember United we stand, divided we fall.

Priggishness best describes this mayor. He flies his own helicopter (A little known fact.He is a pilot) above the city that he had no legal right to govern while looking down on the little people. He changed the law to suit his own agenda then made sure that no other Mayor could serve a third term. He attacks the hard working teachers who have given their lives to this profession. He is a corporate type who would do what they did at my wife’s firm. Lay off people, up to and including, those who are going through chemotherapy. This is the norm in the corporate world. When he throws in a compliment towards teachers, I see it for what it is. Peeing on my back and telling me that it is raining. At least the Egyptians know what to do when you have a “Leader for life.”
