Chanting slogans like “Profits, not pupils!” “We want money, not textbooks!” and “First the banks, then the schools!,” a large and spirited group of gaudily dressed faux hedge-funders expressed their enthusiasm for opening (and siphoning profits from) charter schools on May 4 at a rally in front of the New York City Charter School Center.

Looks like retirees and staffers to me.
Rank and file? We want in on the action too.
We want to have a voice too.

2nd attempt…
It would be great if the UFT asked rank and file members to partake in street theatre actions and protests in front of politicians’ offices. I suspect this was a middle of the day event that required retirees and staffers. But what about after-school actions? Weekend actions? There are many UFTers who would like to engage actively on behalf of their union.
