This summer, the International Rescue Committee and the UFT are once again sponsorsing the Sandy Feldman Fellowships for Service through Education. These fellowships focus on designing and implementing programs around the particular educational needs of refugee students. Stipends for living and travel expenses are provided.
Last summer, fellows worked with the IRC programs with refugee students from the Central African conflicts [in Tanzania], and with refugees from around the world [in Dallas, Phoenix and San Diego]. A New York Teacher article on the work of the program last summer can be read here.
The descriptions of the Sandy Feldman fellowships sponsored by the UFT and IRC this year, with qualifications for the position, can be read by their location: Kenya, Africa, Dallas, Phoenix and San Diego. Applications can be made on-line, through these links. The deadline for the submission of applications is March 1.
