These are public funds being used not private funds Enron officials went to jail for stealing funds the same should happen those who set their own salaries using public funds.

There are well documented abuses in public schools such as principals using children first funds for other purposes, ignoring special education laws/ policies are just two examples. Has the state stepped in to audit schools or hold them accountable?

If teachers are forced many times to agree with principals and parents are denied input in their own child's educational process in public schools where meetings are subject to public disclosure laws imagine in charter schools?

Charter schools can force behavior issue students out and vocal parents can also be pushed out. Public schools are not supposed to push students out and are subject to anti-discrimination laws for students, staff and parents. The charter schools should be subject to the same accountability and reporting standards as public schools because it is public money.

Taxpayers should know how their money is being used. Just to ask a couple of question I want the DOE, City and State and Federal government to answer are:

(1) Is it a coincidence that most charter schools open up in minority
neighborhoods where political involvement in the community has been traditionally low?

(2) is it a coincidence that Arne Duncan, Mike Bloomberg, and Joe Klein stated they want to close at a minimum 5% of schools that are underperforming?

(3) Is it a coincidence that schools were broken up into fragments thus fragmenting PTAs, administrators, teachers, unions into the separate parts within a building thus decentralizing the voice of these groups?

(4) Is it a coincidence that the people that have expanded the DOE's accountability department do not want to be held accountable for failures or instances of fraud? Who is overseeing the overseers?

(5) What ever happened to the ancient principle of checks and balances to insure the government is responsive to the people it serves?

If I keep speaking about the principals of democracy being violated the list would go on and on. In short I just want to make sure the thousands of dollars I pay in taxes yearly are going to valuables causes and not into other peoples pockets.
