Interesting place. The UFT site should have a link to it. We should also have some way to email or fearless leader, Randi. I would really like to start a thread about the inequities amoung the schedules of the forgotten cluster teacher.

Back to the topic, the page is too wide - doesn't fit on my 17 inch monitor without scrolling left-right, which is annoying.

Love the blog, love the idea, already added to my subscriptions.

Everyman, only posters can write a post where people can comment. This is probably the only open thread we'll have for a while.

How do you start a topic/thread? Is it only the UFT that can do this?

Congrats on the roll out. Loading time is good and your site renders fine in IE 6.0 You might consider somehow including your sponsor's name higher on the page.

roseba,

Thank you for notifying us of the editing you made to a post.

Does this mean we all have the ability to edit our posts without notifying people of the corrections?

Maybe I can go back to my “it’s and change it to suit grammarian. (isle tri too right bettor two).

You said that there was a very good reason to not inform the Union members of the launch of a major new product. “It really isn’t ready for prime time, nor the swarm of traffic an official announcement would bring. Then why would you link to other blogs and have them talk about ours? I think the amount of active readers and contributors of all the blogs you link to far surpasses the amount of UFT members.

By the way, if you wanted a small, select group of people to test this blog, you could have just used the UFT e-mail list. That way you could have only registered UFT members post, but allow others to read. Then iron out the bugs, add links and then make an official announcement.

Common courtesy to the people who pay the dues that support this site would have been nice.

Mea culpa grammarian. I am neither and educator, or a writer. Just someone who tries to keep the blog running smoothly. I'll try to do better in the future.

dr_dru wrote, "If this is sponsored by the UFT, why did I have to find out about it’s existence in the Daily News?"

roseba wrote, "The bottom line of your criticism is that you weren’t informed of it’s launch. There is a very good reason for that."

You both make valid points. However, may I be rude enough to point out that you both use "it's" incorrectly?

"It's" with an apostrophe is used to abbreviate "it is." Use "its" (no apostrophe) to show possession. While this may seem minor, we educators have a responsibility to use the language correctly. Let's get it right before our critics jump all over us!
