For anybody who doubts that this campaign is doing something important in America, watch this white union leader, Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO, speak about racism to his membership (and watch the reaction of the crowd). [via The Daily Dish]

Very interesting. He infers you can’t disagree with Obama’s policies of:
    1. Healthcare for illegals
    2. Tax cuts (government checks) to those who do not pay federal income taxes (1/2 of the 95% he talks about)
    3. Cut and run war policy
    4. Presidential face to face meetings with Iran etc.
    5. Redistribution of wealth
    6. Additional pork barrel spending
If you are against Obama then you must be a racist

He says there are no good reasons for not voting for Obama. You haven’t provided any good reasons, just a bunch of half-baked smears with no basis in fact.

    1. In 2003 Obama made statements in support of Illinois covering children of illegal immigrants with health care. His federal plan includes no such coverage.

    2. The lowest earners who will see a tax cut under Obama’s plan make $35,000 a year. I have made $35,000 a year. I paid plenty in federal income tax. By the way, the McCain campaign is falsely claiming that Obama will raise taxes on people making $32,000 a year. You people need to get your lies straight.

    3. How long do you propose we continue to waste billions and send our kids to die in a failed occupation? We must responsibly extricate ourselves from that debacle as soon as possible. And before you try to slander my patriotism, I’m a Navy veteran. It makes me highly intolerant of ill-defined missions and abuse of servicepeople and veterans. I actually still had a glimmer of admiration for John McCain until he voted against the GI Bill.

    4. Diplomacy gets things done. Recently even the Bush administration has been in high level talks with Iran and North Korea, and just last week reached important non-proliferation agreements with N. Korea. Disclaiming diplomacy and negotiation is the truly irresponsible stance.

    5. Uh, I’d like to actually get something for my tax dollars…non-collapsing bridges would be nice…disaster relief for my fellow citizens that survive terrible hurricanes…early childhood nutrition and education…not have them funneled into the pockets of already super-wealthy defense contractors, credit card companies, and health insurance deniers. We need some new leadership to make that happen.

    6. John McCain is making noises about “earmarks” because he has nothing to offer voters. He along with all other 534 congresspeople have participated in this system his entire career. His hands are just as dirty as anyone’s, and his impassioned diatribes are just attempts to distract from his more-of-the-same.

I don’t necessarily think you’re a racist. I just think you are gullible, and getting your news from places that have a vested interest in manipulating you.
