Edwize predicted that anti-teacher union blogger in chief, Antonucci of Intercepts, would take up our challenge. We expected that he would make a mention, however grudging, of this story, if only because we laid down the gauntlet. This was the tale of the business leader who announced that the problem with card check union recognition was that “You have no chance to retaliate…”
We wuz wrong. Not a word for Antonucci, or from the other usual anti-union suspects.

Dear Leo:
If we’re going to play “I dare you to write about…” I have a very, very long list.
Thanks for the “anti-teacher union blogger in chief” blurb, though. I’m going to have it put on my shingle.
Have a good weekend,
Mike

Hey Leo,
Your posts on this subject seem like another attempt at “Proof By Anecdote”. Also, I agree with Mike that it seems inappropriate to attack someone for not responding to a “challenge” on your blog and using this lack of response to imply a victory for your “proof by anecdote”. Finally, it seems petty to make a big deal over someone saying something that they correct in the very next sentence and using some sort of Freudian argument to escalate the event into some sort of conclusive piece of evidence.
I would love to see you post something listing the arguments against card check and why you think those arguments are invalid or less substantial than the arguments in favor of card check. It would be great to see this sort of posting without inclusion of statements that assume that all people that are anti-card-check have bad intentions. I, for one, am still mystified as to how abandoning the secret ballot is the optimal response to illegal anti-union harassment and retaliation. To me, it seems clear that abandoning the secret ballot will lead to frequent harassment of employees that don’t want union representation but are afraid of defying union supporters in a public manner. Secret ballots seem like a fundamental component of fair elections.
