Last spring, the UFT created a multi-partisan task force made up of rank-and-file members, parents, community leaders and other stakeholders in the city’s public education system to evaluate the present school governance system and to develop a set of recommendations for future school governance that will effectively serve the educational and developmental needs of the children of New York City.
The goal is to engage and involve classroom educators, parents, community groups, legislators, union members and other civic, labor and public officials in a public participation process so their views on school governance are heard in ample time before the 2009 sunset of mayoral control.
We hope to see you there!
